From January 18 to 28, the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus will host the Chess Championship of the Republic of Belarus among men and women (major league) and the exhibition project "Artifacts of the Game" dedicated to this event.

Playing chess is a special kind of sport, which is closely connected in its historical development with many areas of culture. Chess develops imagination and attention, educates character and will, the logic of thinking.

The providers found an original variant to tell and show about the multidimensionality of the game at the junction of sports and culture: staging chess tournaments in the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus and presenting the exposition "Artifacts of the Game".

The exposition presents the museum's collection and the Independence Palace. Works of contemporary Belarusian artists are also presented: Marta Shmatova, Grigory Ivanov, Elena Schlegel and Anastasia Balish.

Artists enthusiastically solve chess scenes and reflect it in their work. They reveal the veil of secrets, the states experienced by chess players, and give the viewer the opportunity to touch the creative interpretation of the game.

An unique collection of chess pieces from the collections of the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus represents artifacts that have both a physical embodiment and a symbolic content.

Mixing colors on the palette creates many new shades. So the movement of figures on the board, despite the fact that it always follows clear rules, each time gives rise to a unique game, which has its own unique composition. Thousands of thought operations with a kaleidoscope are revealed on a chessboard. The tactics and strategy of a chess player is often similar to art, so it is reflected in the work of artists.

So, creativity and sport in the person of the chess players of the Higher League of Belarus will meet for the first time in a single space, which will undoubtedly become an inspiration for each other.
