From September 14 till October 11, 2018 the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus will display the exhibition of Vladimir Likhodedov "Belarus 1914–1918. War and Peace".
Official opening of the exhibition will be held on September 14 at 16.00 in the courtyard of National Historical Museum of Belarus.
In November 2018, the world will celebrate the centenary of the end of one of the most bloody armed conflicts in the history of mankind – the First World War. Contemporaries called it the Great War and hoped that it would be "a war that will put an end to all wars." The bitter experience of those harsh years taught people many lessons. It's very important to remember the history even after a hundred years – especially against the backdrop of political, social and economic conflicts that swept the world.
"Belarus 1914–1918. War and Peace" exhibition will take place in a completely new format. Instead of the usual museum halls, a temporary exposition will be located in the old building of the former stables of the Minsk branch of the State Bank of the Russian Empire, located in the museum yard. The old brick of these walls will remind of fortresses and fortifications of the First World War, will transfer visitors from the modern center of Minsk in that era.
