  • 03.03.2019

From March 3 to May 30, 2019, the National Historical Museum of the Rpublic of Belarus presents the “Invitation to the Ball” exhibition from the world's largest collection of costumes by the well–known fashion historian, art historian, collector, theater artist Alexandre Vassiliev.

Maestro Alexandre Vassiliev invites you to plunge into the festive atmosphere – the exhibition is dedicated to ball gowns and ceremonial dresses of the 1915 to 2015 period. More than 100 spectacular images and several hundred various accessories, jewelery and art jewelery created by great couturiers and fashion houses await visitors.

The exhibition will feature the works of the largest fashion houses – Worth, Christian Dior, Chanel, Lanvin, Nina Ricci, Balenciaga, Maggy Rouff, Balmain, Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent, Jean Louis Scherer, Valentino, Oleg Cassini, Oskar de la Renta and others.

Visitors would enjoy a journey through ballroom and evening gowns from different eras: from the magical, shimmering embroidered tulle dresses of the First World War to the brilliant styles of the 1920s.

The post–war decade is represented by luxurious feminine decorated gowns in the New Look style for a romantic waltz, and a new fashion from the 1960s. – straight futuristic twist dresses.

The changes introduced by the rebellious 1970s were marked by outrageous disco rhythms of brocade and sparkles, and the bourgeois 1980s introduced voluminous shoulders and the bright nontrivial dresses in the style of rock stars of that time.

The 1990s presented the “grunge” style and minimalism to fashion world, and the 21st century collapsed with a wave of brilliance, luxury and maximalism of the early 2000s. Nowadays movie stars, musicians and celebrities influenced the development of fashion. Many unique and elegant dresses will inspire you!

The exhibition will be interesting to a wide audience without age limit (0+).
