The international exhibition of photoghraphy "Game Of Classics" will open January 13 in the exhibition hall of the Museum of History of Belarusian Cinema (branch of "National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus").
The official opening will take place on January 12 at 18.00.
This exhibition unites the works of photographers from Belarus, Lithuania, Italy, Austria, Ukraine and Russia – the beginning of a big international project "Game Of Classics", including a series of exhibitions of pinhole photography in Belarus and other participating countries.
Pinhole photography – is a picture created by the lens–free camera, where the small hole is used instead of a lens. Pinhole photography is characterized by infinite depth of field, "softness" of the picture and a special atmosphere. Pinhole blurs the boundaries of time and a sense of belonging to a certain age, and converts the picture's imperfections to advantages. This makes the photos, obtained by the pinhole camera, different from pictures created by any the other cameras.
The exhibition has more than 140 works, including the sets that are made by hand printing technique. And for the first time – pinhole portrait of the current president!
The structure of the novel by Julio Cortázar "Game Of Classics" is used for the concept of this project integrally and partially for this exhibition. The project consists of five thematic exhibitions ("books"), linked by a technique of photographic image. The theme of the first exhibition is Human being.
The exhibition is based on a specific pattern. There is a guide–map for visitors, that will help them to "read" current photos in a new fashion, as believe the authors of the project. A separate block presents а set of own works.
The creators of "Game Of Classics" project consider pinhole photography not only as a technique, but firstly, as an artist's medium and his vision of social realm.
