In 2010, the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus joined the European tradition of honorary membership for its most active supporters and partners. This action is aimed to draw attention of the public to problems of the museum, to organize large dialogue and cooperation with organizations, institutions, and individuals. For this reason, the ‘Statute Concerning the Honorary Title of the Friend of National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus’ have been prepared.
The first ten honorary friends include Ms Lyudmila Sidorskaya who has given three digital copies of 17th-century portraits of famous historical personalities of Belarus, made after paintings from the collection of the Smolensk State Museum-Preserve to the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus, Professor Adam Maldzis, Doctor of Letters, Philaret, Metropolitan of Minsk and Sluck, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz, Metropolitan Archbishop of Minsk and Mahilioŭ, sponsors, patrons of arts, and private individuals.
Friends of the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus are: Ms L. Sidorskaya, Mr A. Maldis, Philaret (Emeritus Metropolitan of Minsk and Slutsk, Patriarch's Exarch of All Belarus), Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz (Metropolitan Archbishop of Minsk and Mahilioŭ), Mr H. Yahorau (chairman of the board of Belvnesheconombank), Mr A. Gorshman, V. Viaryha, H. Kunts, Mr M. Varabey (director of the Interservice LCC)., Ms V. Mamantava. In 2011, the list of museum friends was replenished by the following names: JTI Company, Ms V. Dzitlava, V. Viadrenka, V. Kachan, Mr E. Piatrouski, Mr U. Krukouski, Ms S. Uretskaya.
In 2013, the title was given to Mr Vasil Kisialiou Candidate of Historic Sciences, Ms Alena Kruhlik Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Ms Valiantsina Khodan, Ms Alena Kilina, Ms Professor Alena Ramanava, Ms Taisiya Khrystsenka, Ms Alena Karalko, Mr Ihar Sayko, Mr Adret Hryshel.
Traditionally, presentation of museum friend’s certificates takes place during the ‘First time displayed’ exhibition opening. In that way, the Museum expresses its gratitude to those people and organizations that have given support and were fully engaged in the Museum’s life.
