On June 9, 2017, the National History Museum of the Republic of Belarus opens an exhibition "Symbols of the Soviet era", created with the support of the Z. Azgur Memorial Museum–Workshop and the State National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus. It is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution, it is addressed to the widest audience.

In the center of the show – Soviet symbolism as one of the most important components of the culture of this era. Soviet symbolism has found a vivid embodiment both in works of art and objects of everyday life. Developed mainly during the revolutionary times and the first years of the establishment of Soviet power, these symbols replaced the former state and religious symbols, filled all spheres of society's life. Acting as art markers of the era, they caused visual associations of belonging to the proletarian type of culture. Such symbols include red color, star images, plow, sickle, hammer, which have become important elements of historical memory for several generations.

To create the exhibition, items from the collection of the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus were used: documents, posters, works of decorative and applied art, metal, porcelain and a number of other items. The memorial museum–workshop of Z. Azgur is represented by sculptural images of outstanding party, military and state figures – V.Lenin, M.Frunze, P.Masherov and others. The National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus provided sculptures by V. Lenin, K. Marx and V. Horuzze.

The installations created on the basis of museum collections tell about the pioneer and party life of that time, the work of women, achievements in the field of science and technology. Visitors to the exhibition will be offered to view fragments of Soviet movies.
